MANTECA INNOVATIONS
It's off and running for Manteca Innovations.
The Manteca Unified School District offers Independent Study classes for students in ninth through 12th grades.
Formerly known as BE. This program is part of the district's Careers Technical Education pathway, which integrates core academic knowledge with technical occupational skills.
Principal Harrison oversees the CTE programs that have been in the works since last spring at Lathrop High and the district office complex. It offers classes on industrial maintenance, welding and fabrication, fire science, and first responder/emergency medicine.
We've finally ironed out the kinks in the MUSD restructure, he said.
It has been discussed with Ryan Costa that the local economy is in need of warehouse workers other than entry-level positions and high-paying jobs.
Specifically, they're looking for people who are able to repair hydraulic systems or electro-pneumatic systems. It is imperative to hire someone who is a jack of all trades.
Manteca Innovations provides the knowledge and skills required for that, along with some of the latest technology in machinery and expert instructors.
She has been an EMT with the Manteca District Ambulance for many years. A day earlier, she had students in her Intro to Fire Science class do turnout drills, where their goal was to quickly don their fire equipment gear.
The feat was accomplished by Luke Abreu from Sierra High School in 39 seconds.
Ott stressed the importance of time (in an emergency situation).
His background is in combat medicine. Ten years ago, he began looking for P.E. at MUSD. In addition to teaching emergency medicine, he held a full-time job.
The National Registry Test for EMTs can be taken by Sierra, Manteca High, East Union, Weston Ranch, and Lathrop students before they graduate.
Mike Patterson teaches the same class as Costa.
Costa has been an instructor at MUSD for more than 15 years. A course he teaches here is industrial maintenance / industrial manufacturing.
The money and resources we have allocated to this program have been structured.
With the Smart Automation Certification Alliance, students can earn occupational credentials and micro-credentials. Amatrols innovative, interactive training systems, such as the Electrical Wiring Learning, Applied Electrical Control, and AC / DC Electrical, train students using the Electrical Wiring Learning, Applied Electrical Control, and AC / DC Electrical.
Additionally, Costa offers courses in advanced manufacturing, including laser cutting and 3-D printing.
"My classes piggyback on Ryan's program," Patterson said.
He teaches welding and fabrication classes using cutting-edge equipment.
As the operator of the full machine shop at LHS, Patterson was pleased to receive $40000 in steel from CBC Steel Buildings of Lathrop.
Harrison was equally grateful.
There is state-of-the-art technology in this shop. There is no better place for our children than this, he said.
Manteca Innovations teaches students to learn trades and certifications as well as job-skills through advanced classes at Modesto Junior College, Delta College, or any other trade school.
This program has been complemented by the Manteca Adult School and local junior colleges.
